"Geriatrics, more than any other area, highlights the differences between doctors who treat diseases that occur in people and doctors who care for people who have diseases." - Eugene A. Stead, Jr., MD from "A Way of Thinking: A Primer on the Art of Being a Doctor."
The clinical clerkships introduce students to the art of being a doctor. The Curriculum on Care in Aging highlights the approach to several commonly encountered problems in older adults - particularly cognitive impairment and gait disorders - in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The Care in Aging Symposium, presented by the Division of Geriatrics, offers basic assessment tools, which students will then employ in providing care for elderly patients throughout the year.
